M77 was very obvious appearing as a bright object with obvious spiral structure wrapping around a very bright nucleus. Just NNW and SSW of the nucleus were two bright inner spiral arms just projecting from the nucleus then obvious dark markings could be seen, this was the arms between the spiral arms themselves then obvious arms spiraling out and around the bright galaxy. There was a bright spot just SSW of the core and I'm not sure if this was a faint star or a brighter condensed area. A magnitude 10.8 star was just to the east of M77.
