At low power and unfiltered NGC 2371/72 looked like a very faint patch of elongated light. At high power with the OIII filter it is seen as two distinctly separate objects, 2371 the south-western part was the brighter looking appearing like a small ball of light with a condensed nucleus and a stellar core, this was about 1-1.5' across. Around 30"away in PA 65° NGC 2372 was seen, it was smaller than 71 and a bit fainter with only slightly condensed nucleus, this was about 30 to 45 arc seconds across. Using a deep sky filter and a magnification of 204x the nebula appeared to have a faint haze connecting the two objects, the central star of magnitude 14.1 was not seen
IC 2157 - 8.75 inch reflector
This was an insignificant little knot of stars about 30 arc minutes from NGC 2158 and at a magnification of 144x about four or five stars were seen. Using high-power about 20 stars were counted of magnitude 10.5 and fainter in a 4-5' area. Some close doubles were seen using high-power.
NGC 2392 - the eskimo nebula - 8.75 inch reflector
At high power and filtered NGC 2392 was a bright disc with a mottled appearance and a gradually brightening middle, the magnitude 10.47 central star was very prominent. Inserting a Lumicon OIII filter made the nebula very bright revealing a very bright centre and dark collar around its edge, the central star disappears when viewing with the OIII filter and possible dark markings could be seen around the collar where the bright in a region fades out to the outer region. I detected a very strong blue green colour in the nebula and estimated size of 40 – 45".
