The Lagoon nebula was seen at low power as a very faint small patch of nebulosity without filters next to the open cluster NGC 6530. Inserting a Lumicon OIII filter produced faint wisps and tendrils of nebulosity that emerged from the dark background, the western side of the nebula contained the brightest portion called the hourglass and this section was very bright and well defined running parallel from a pair of 6th and 7th magnitude stars while faint nebulosity filled the area around the hourglass and possible dark markings were seen running along it. The other side of the nebula was bisected by a large dark bay running NE- SW and was sharply defined, the SE side of the nebula was thinner than the NW side but was also well defined and ran NE until it enclosed the star cluster NGC 6530, it was more circular in shape in this area and the whole nebulosity was about 15' in diameter. The cluster NGC 6530 was a pretty loose cluster with only a handful of stars, its magnitude is 4.6 and is 14' across. A lot of field stars had to be omitted from the sketch is the nebula passed behind a house before I could finish it.
M 22 - 12 inch reflector
An observation made at the COAA in Portugal, 22 was seen as a large bright very condensed cluster with several bright stars scattered across its face and a multitude of fainter stars of mixed between giving an impressive view. The outer regions of the cluster were quite ragged with arms stretching out from the interior at the SE, NE and SW sides.
M 17 - this swan nebula - 12 inch reflector
M17 was seen with a Lumicon OIII filter as a very bright and distinct nebula, the Swan shape was easily seen and the brightest part was the top of the body were a lot of dark markings were seen. The body of the Swan pointed SE and was about 10' in length and when the main bright part of the body ended a faint extension was seen continuing on to form a total length of 20', the swans neck ran in a SSW direction and the head hooked around in a WNW direction. Like the swans body the neck had a lot of dark markings running along its length, there was a faint but quite extensive glow of faint nebulosity surrounding the Swan which was not visible unfiltered, only the OIII makes it possible but no sketch can ever convey the beauty of this magnificent nebula is seen visually through a decent nebula filter.
M 69 - 12 inch reflector
I observed this object at the COAA in Portugal but it was quite low in the sky and it consists of minute stars it was very difficult to make a decent observation but it was resolved with averted vision and very granular with direct vision.
M 70 - 12 inch reflector
An observation made at the COAA in Portugal but this observation was quite disappointing in the 12 inch aperture as it looked like a very faint and small fuzzy object with no real resolution but I did see one star at its centre and another faint start just to the WSW from centre, know the detail was visible.
