M 15 was immediately obvious as a bright fuzzing nebula in the finder scope situated in a good star field and in the telescope at 144x magnification this magnificent globular cluster was very bright overall with a blazing Centre and fully resolved even with direct vision. At first sight it looks circular in shape but careful viewing seems to show an elongation in a NE- SW direction also the eastern side of the globular seem to have less stars while the rest of the periphery of the cluster was very ragged and some brighter stars stood out on its SW, NW and NE sides. The overall stars in M15 are of the 12th to 13th magnitude.
NGC 7331 - 10 inch reflector + Watec
NGC 7331 was a moderately large bright oval nebulosity about 3' in diameter although this was only the core as the Galaxy extends much further out, there was also a much brighter inner region about 1.5' across with a blazing nucleus. The western side of the galaxy was very sharply defined as this was the position of a main dark lane and you could see an outer spiral arm further west, this dark lane seem to curve around the southern part of the galaxy and there was a projection from the Western spiral arm that extended across the dark lane and there were two fingerlike projections extending from the northern long axis. Also in the field of view were a few other galaxies, NGC 7335 visible as an elongated smudge, NGC 7336 visible as a circular area with a brighter middle and NGC 7337 seen as a small circular patch of light next to a magnitude 14 Star.
M15 - 10 inch Reflector + Watec
A superb globular, a blazing centre and slightly elongated N-S, it was fully resolved ranging from lots of bright stars scattered across its face going down to interstellar sand. there were lots of curving arcs of stars throughout the cluster and the edges seemed irregular in shape. A bright magnitude 8 star is just north of the cluster.
NGC 7479 - 10 inch reflector + Watec
This galaxy was seen as a thin bar of light orientated north- south with quite a bright core perhaps looking stellar on occasions. This bar tapered off to form to spiral arms the southern arm curved round to the west nearly curving around a magnitude 14 star while the northern arm curved to the east but this was much harder to see as it was very diffuse. There was a magnitude 13.2 star almost touching the northern edge and a magnitude 11.8 star was seen a short distance to the south.
NGC 7317 - Stephan's quintet - 10 inch reflector + Watec
Stefan's quintet was immediately obvious on the monitor as a small cluster of galaxies, five in total: NGC 7320, 7319, 7317 and NGC 7318A+B. None of the objects showed any detail and the largest in the group NGC 7230 was elongated north-south and appeared very diffuse, the rest were small and diffuse but each with a bright core. NGC 7320 has a faint magnitude 14.5 star at the SE side about 15"from the centre and NGC 7317 is situated next to a magnitude 12.3 star.
NGC 7332 and 7339 - 10 inch reflector + Watec
NGC 7332 was seen as a long slender but bright streak of light about 1.5' in length, the nucleus was very bright and tapered off each side just next to a magnitude 11 star, no other detail was seen. NGC 7339 was seen several arc minutes NNE, this is a magnitude 12.8 (SB) Galaxy 0.7'x 2.8' in length which looked similar to NGC 7332 but was more diffuse and it didn't have much of a central brightening but I did notice some subtle markings along its length which was about the same length as NGC 7332.
